About the Piece

I spent hours lying flat on the volcanic rocks, waiting for this marine iguana to turn just right. The warm afternoon light caught every textured scale on his ancient face while his companions dozed nearby. These creatures are completely unfazed by humans, letting me get inches away to capture the incredible detail of those prehistoric spines. It felt like photographing a creature from another era entirely.
