About the Piece

I captured this standing on the rocky shore of Neko Harbor, my boots crunching on ancient pebbles smoothed by millennia of ice. The zodiac boats had just dropped our expedition group on this remote Antarctic beach, and as storm clouds gathered behind the glacier, I knew I had moments to compose this scene. Two curious penguins wandered into frame as if posing, completely unafraid of their rare human visitors. The expedition ship waiting in the distance reminded me just how small we are in this vast frozen wilderness.
