I waited patiently along the volcanic shoreline when this magnificent brown pelican settled onto the barnacle-crusted rocks just meters away. The soft overcast light was perfect, eliminating harsh shadows and allowing the intricate feather patterns to shine. What struck me most was the bird's complete indifference to my presence—a testament to the fearlessness of Galápagos wildlife. I composed the shot to capture both the pelican's dignified posture and the gorgeous turquoise waters behind, letting the shallow depth of field melt the background into a dreamy wash of color.
