Nepali Street Musicians Playing Traditional Drums by Hindu Shrine
Traditional Nepali musicians beat ancient rhythms past a sacred Hindu shrine
Free shipping over $250
I was wandering through the narrow lanes of Bhaktapur when the thunderous beat of the dhime drum stopped me in my tracks. These musicians in their traditional dhaka topi caps were part of a local procession, their rhythms bouncing off centuries-old buildings. I positioned myself near this beautiful stone shrine dedicated to Hindu deities, waiting for the perfect moment when the lead drummer stepped into the light. The contrast between their modern clothing and ancient instruments, the sacred and the everyday, captured everything I love about Nepal.
Ancient rhythms echo through cobblestone streets where gods and mortals meet
