I captured this scene during the Antarctic summer when the breeding colonies come alive with activity. Standing among hundreds of Adelie penguins and their fluffy grey chicks, the air filled with their constant calls as parents returned from fishing trips to feed hungry mouths. The rusty-red guano-stained rocks created an unexpected color palette against the grey sky, and I waited for this moment when a parent and chick interacted in the foreground while the vast colony stretched behind them toward the ancient rock formations.
